Jade Valley School of Classical Tea Arts is a place where people can learn about Asian Tea Culture, in a pristine and very private park-like setting, among tall pines, majestic oaks, rushing waters, and Japanese inspired architecture. A small stand-alone teahouse provides a simple, yet well-equipped space for lengthy sittings for study and Tea sharing. Host MJ Greenmountain, a 23 year long Tea Path Walker, welcomes students of all ages, and ranges of experience. MJ’s focus is on Zen and Puerh, with each subject encompassing many other aspects of the Culture. Having studied with a true Scholar for 7 years, MJ received a solid foundation of knowledge and experience in Zen Meditation (Zazen), story telling, Asian antique ceramics, incense, scroll painting (kakejiku), aesthetics and design, in addition to tea history, agriculture, production and so on. Students come for individual classes, workshops, retreats, and intensives. On-site Airbnb spaces provide the opportunity for deep immersions, while MJ’s wife, a Japanese professional chef, prepares Michelin star-level cuisine. The fabulous Nature surrounding the sprawling property creates a perfect sanctuary space to let the subject matter and student merge with the All.
